In a Time of Civil Unrest Against Racism, the Impact of White Silence is Deafening
When someone shouted a racial slur at Charlene Taylor, PhD, just a week ago, she found herself “shockingly UNshocked.” But as she processed the incident, she realized that she was angry. And what made her most angry was the silence of the white people around her who had witnessed it. As a senior researcher at NCCD, Taylor wrote a blog post about her experience, which was published here. The Idaho Statesman also published the piece here, and KTVB7 of Boise, Idaho, interviewed Taylor about the incident on the patio where she was sitting as it happened. You can see the TV news story here.
