Evident Change Announces Finalists for 2020 Media for a Just Society Awards
Along with revealing our new name this week, Evident Change is also proud to announce the finalists for our 2020 Media for a Just Society Awards. Each year, we recognize media from across the United States that further public understanding of Evident Change’s focus areas, including child welfare, juvenile justice, adult justice, and adult protection. Many of these topics are covered regularly by the mass media, yet the treatment is often sensationalized and not representative of system issues the public needs to understand. The media we recognize look deeper, consider trends, and offer insight. For many years, the Media for a Just Society Awards have been given in the categories of book, film, print/online journalism, radio, television/video, and youth media. This year we have added a new category for those who write and create while they are incarcerated, as their unique perspectives are crucial to understanding and improving the nation’s social systems.
We plan to announce a winner for each category soon, along with the winner of the Distinguished Achievement Award for 2020.
In addition, we are now seeking submissions and nominations for the 2021 awards. The deadline is December 31, 2020, and you can see the criteria and instructions here.
Congratulations to the finalists for this year’s awards! We are grateful for your work in creating meaningful narratives about our society’s social systems.
