Monica Chiarini Tremblay, PhD (Secretary)

Professor of Business Analytics, Raymond A. Mason School of Business, College of William and Mary

Monica Chiarini Tremblay is a professor of business analytics at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business, College of William and Mary. Dr. Tremblay received her PhD in business administration with a concentration in information systems and a master’s degree in information systems from the University of South Florida. She also has a BS in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida. Prior to joining William and Mary, Dr. Tremblay was the department chair of the Information Systems and Business Analytics Department at Florida International University (FIU) School of Business. While at FIU she received the university’s Top Scholar award and several service and teaching awards.

Dr. Tremblay’s research is focused on data science, business analytics, barriers to technology adoption, and sustainability—all within the healthcare context. Her research has appeared in Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, Decision Sciences Journal, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, and Communications of the Association for Information Systems. She was the principal investigator on several federal and state grants in the area of Health IT and analytics and a study session member for the HITR section of Agency Healthcare Research Quality. Dr. Tremblay serves as a senior editor of the Production and Operations Management (POM) Journal, Health Systems, and Decision Sciences Journal.

Dr. Tremblay has taught courses in data management, health information systems, data warehousing, and data mining. She is frequently invited as an expert panelist in the area of data analytics and health informatics for international, industry, and academic conferences. Prior to moving to academia, Dr. Tremblay worked for Exxon, IBM, and Siemens as a systems analyst.
